Mock Turtle Neck

So I got a call tonight from a slightly agitated lady concerned about us running in the dark on such a busy road. Not to mention that work was being let out at 5pm and we just shouldn’t run during that time. Now as much as I wanted to argue that as long as you all follow the speed limit, which is 30mph, observe the road and surroundings and never text while driving you should never hit a runner. Unless of course they jumped out on the hood of your car because they don’t want to run anymore, I have pondered this a few times myself. 
Anyways, most drivers do not follow those rules as we see daily so she was right about one thing we need to be vigilant and make sure we are wearing our reflective jackets. We have plenty but if you don’t want to wear ours pick something up at your local sporting goods store. Running in the winter is a different beast and we need to make sure we watch the cars. When running past that intersection always make eye contact with the driver and make sure to wave as they wait for you to cross.
We will never beat a car in a fight so let’s do all we can to not die when we run in the dark. Also, another tip for not dying is not running in the middle of the street or taking a wide turn out of the parking lot. Don’t do those things ever, even in the daytime. Keep your eyes open and watch every set of lights because odds are good they are not watching you.
