Pick & Roll

I always like to say that you cannot cheat an overhead squat. What I mean is that there is no way to have a loaded barbell over your head and squat it if you are unable to do the movement with a PVC. When I first started seeing dudes doing CrossFit movements back in the day at the Y I was blown away and then I saw the overhead squat. Some guy had 135 pounds on a barbell and he took it off the rack, pressed it out overhead and squatted it. Holy Moly what in the hell was that, I said to myself. So the next day I grabbed an empty barbell, got it over my head and squatted it like a boss. Ok, ok so the moment I started my decent the bar flew about 10 feet when my arms and shoulders just said no. No one got hurt but my pride was bruised to say the least. I was determined though and for the next 2 months, everyday I would walk my way to the front desk and ask for the wooden dowel they had hidden away in their storage closet. I stood in front of a mirror and did it over and over and over again. People would look at me sweating bullets trying to squat this maybe 2 pound wooden dowel, I looked a little strange but I didn’t care I was going to get this damn thing down. Even if I did look like a giant sissy squatting a near weightless stick. Over time I was able to start with the bar and then with a little bit of weight . Long story short if you struggle with your overhead squat take a step back and become very good friends with a PVC. You will get better and before you know it you will be overhead squatting like a boss.
1.) Pick & Roll
7 minute AMRAP
3 Muscle Ups
5 Front Squat 185/120lb
7 Bar Facing Burpees
2.) 10 minutes hollow rock hold.
Note: I want you to spend 10 minutes with your forearm across your abdomen solely concentrating on holding a flat stomach. Build from the ground up towards a correct hollow rock position. Ashley is here tonight and gives a fantastic demo on how to accomplish this.
*3.) Bench Press 10-10-8-6-4-2-2-1, rest no more than 2 minutes between sets
*4.) EMOM for 10 minutes
odd minutes: ME Handstand Walk
even minutes: ME Wallballs
*5) 50 Pull-ups for time
