Jorge

9/11
Saturday September 10th is the 4th annual 9/11 memorial stair climb.  It is held at Lambeau Field starting at 9:00am. If you haven’t participated before, it is a great event to honor the 343 firefighters from FDNY that were killed on that horrible day in 2001. You will get a card with the name and picture of a firefighter that was lost, and that is who you will climb for. Winding yourself through the bowl of the stadium, you will climb and eventually reach the equivalent of the 110 floors of the World Trade Center buildings. When you reach the 78th floor you will ring a bell and shout out their name. The 78th floor is the highest anyone reached that day. Full fire gear is around 70#, so If you want a weight vest or sandbag, talk to Grant or Justin.

The loss to the the fire service that day is unimaginable. It would be about as much as the entire Green Bay Fire Dept being killed twice in the same day. This event is near and dear to my heart, as well as the many firefighter and spouse CrossFitters we have, and it would be great to have a big turnout from CrossFit Green Bay. All money raised will go to the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation which is an organization that assists families that have lost loved ones in the fire service get their lives back in order.
