Lenard

Sorry for the long winded post tonight but please read it. All of it. ???
Part 1
Highlights from today’s CrossFit Central Regional:
Alyssa made it through all of her strict handstand push-ups in record time helping the team achieving their best time for event 1 to date. Zachary sent me a text after Alyssa  and Garrett finished their bar MU’s telling me those two were the most synchronized of the 3 pairs. 4 weeks ago she wasn’t ready but today she was. Imagine where Alyssa will be if she keeps training with the same intensity she has these last weeks. If she’s not dead look out cause she’s going to be lapping you.
Garrett snatched 185 five times and 205 four in true Garrett fashion, touch n go unbroken. The bar looked like a toy. Garrett was the field general today. Impressed. Oh and how is a boy that big do gymnastics like that. Watch the video of him doing the handstand push-ups. Looked like he was being pulled up by a string.
Anna traveled through the entire snatch ladder and nailed 175 with seconds to go. She got no repped because she stepped over the line but whatever. I’ve seen her hit this twice now and it’s time for my 185 pound snatch to get to 200 pronto or I’ll be sharing a bar with her again.
Chuck hit 240 then failed 3 in a row. Chuck motioned to the waiting Garrett with time running low, one more and hit it. Best snatch I’ve witnessed thus far Chuck. Chuck you are going to be a dominate force in these next couple years. Keep grinding Chuck.
Derek did everything like a seasoned veteran. I always admire Noah Olson because of the fact he is always happy when working out. A carefree attitude but works harder than anyone I’ve seen. Derek has that same attitude and I’m thankful everyday that he came to us when his life turned upside down.(read below a message from Derek about that time in his life)
Tina. Well Tina had quite the day but you know you couldn’t tell. I commented to a few people in Green Bay today about how she handled diversity like a queen. When I see the world falling on that games floor her never quit work ethic and her cool under fire demeaner gently tap me on the shoulder saying relax everything is good. I’m sure many of you have been reassured by Tina about topics ranging from if our kids are going to live with their 102 degree fever or the moment we think one of our body parts is broken and she gently tells you to stop being a baby, you’re fine. She did though kill the cleans, handstand push-ups and gave me the opportunity to finally give her a nickname, “19”.
Great Job Team you done me proud. On to day 2!

Part 2.
A few days short of a year ago Derek came to our gym from out of town. I never met the young man before that day but I saw something was off. He told me of his situation and our relationship was bonded from that moment. Below is a message from Derek about his father and in honor of this young man’s father we’re going to dedicate today’s workout to him and all the others that have their lives end before they needed to. Love you brother.
“Not sure how to start this write up, but here it goes. For members that don’t know, May 31st, 2015 my father passed away. He committed suicide. It was the toughest experience of my life that I don’t think I will ever get over or fully comprehend. My dad served 20 years in the Navy, taught me how to be a man, how to play football, and that we are nothing without family and friends. He taught me the value of hard work in some pretty creative ways… mostly just making me work my ass off either cutting wood, re-stacking wood, picking rocks, etc. lol. He was also the funniest guy you would ever meet. Needless to say, he was my hero. He was one tough son of bitch that didn’t like to talk about his feelings, too. It was tough to notice any sign of struggle he was going through but still I wish there was something I could do. The answer to the question, “why?” constantly eludes me, and searching for that answer drives me insane. There have been many, and still are, sleepless nights. With that being said, my dad wouldn’t be one for me not doing anything about it and just sitting on my ass. In order to help others not suffer with the constant struggle to answer the question, “Why?” prevention is key. I want to raise awareness about The Campaign to Change Direction. The Change Direction initiative is a collection of concerned citizens, nonprofit leaders, and leaders from the private sector who have come together to change the culture in America about mental health, mental illness, and wellness. This initiative plans to spark a movement that:1) frees us to see our mental health as having equal value to our physical health; 2) creates a common language that allows us to recognize the signs of emotional suffering in ourselves and others; 3) encourages us to care for our mental well-being and the mental well-being of others. This year it is expected that more Americans will die from suicide than in car accidents. Know the five signs. They are: Personality Change, Agitation, Withdrawal, Poor Self-care, and Hopelessness. Education is the main focus of the Change Direction Initiative. More specifically, educating military personnel, veterans and family members, first responders, students, teachers, school officials and coaches, health care professionals, and the general public.
We can help by pass along this message with our financial support of Change Direction and raise awareness about this issue.
