Barraza

I wanted to open a gym since I can remember. I’ve always found comfort in a gym. When I finally was granted the opportunity to do it thanks to CrossFit I knew there was a lot of work to do if I was going to make this my career. From the first day I started building CFGB: I was up before the sun and ended the night usually a couple hours before I had to be up again. It was a grind; 18 hour days every day. Juggling two jobs, a family and my sanity every day to meet my goal of opening CrossFit Green Bay. Once I opened the doors I continued this grind for well over a year knowing that I was only going to get out what I put in. Over five years later the foundation I built with my own hands has allowed me the freedom to not have to be at the gym 24/7; but at the same time I cannot just up and quit putting effort in to this gym or surely my success will start to falter. I know how hard I had to work to get where I am. I go through days here and there where I slip and let the gym kind of coast but then like a giant slap in the face I realize that if I continue this path all my hard work will have been for naught. So I tighten my shit up and get back to work. I tell you all this story because your goal of losing fat, gaining strength or becoming an elite CrossFit athlete requires the same ground work. If you want to succeed at your diet you must build the foundation and that foundation is not built overnight. If you really want something you’ve got to fight for it and not stop until you attain it because anything short of attaining your goal is like building a house on a foundation that has not properly set. The house will eventually collapse forcing you to constantly rebuild. No one can do it except you and you alone. We can seek assistance from other sources constantly in pursuit for  the answer to our goals but end of the day the answer lies within you and your commitment to getting what it is you want.
Let’s continue this impromptu Hero week and honor U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ricardo Barraza. RLTW
Have a great Thursday.
U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ricardo Barraza, 24, of Shafter, California, assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, based in Fort Lewis, Washington, died on March 18, 2006, in Ar Ramadi Iraq, when he came under small arms fire by enemy forces during combat operations. He is survived by his parents Francisco and Nina, his siblings Amanda, Rachel, Jamie, and Frankie, and his fiancee Maghan K. Harrington and her daughter Kayla.

Barraza

Complete as many rounds as possible in 18 minutes of:
Run 200 meters
275 pound Deadlift, 9 reps
6 Burpee bar muscle-ups

We will run inside if the weather does not cooperate. Also, if you would like to get some additional work in after the WOD repeat the extra credit from Monday. We will be spending a majority of time before the workout going over and drilling the deadlift.
